Two weeks after the start of the Mental Omega 3.0 Beta livestreams, we've had 4 sessions with plenty of test matches. The basic idea, at least until the release happens, is to show you the current progress while we test the stability of the game. Balance is far from finished, primarily because AttachEffect is still not in and the units are just not complete functionality-wise. However, since we're recording these games for testing purposes we've decided to stream them to the public as well.
We've experimented with the streams themselves as well a bit during the last two weeks, as we're all still learning how to provide you with a decent live Mental Omega 3.0 experience in the future. So far, only the beta testers are allowed to participate but of course after the first Mental Omega 3.0 Public Beta is released we hope to see you join us for the streamed battles.
First of all, as some of you might have noticed, we have a channel on Twitch.tv. For the past few weeks we've been doing Mental Omega streams on a private one and most likely starting next week, semi-regular streams will be held on the official channel with Doomhammer as the host with other members of staff/beta testers team joining him to comment on the games and progress so far. They are usually held on Wednesday and Friday, GMT 19:00. For now we're streaming closed beta multi-player game play, after the release we're looking forward to broadcast games with our fans. Every time we are actually live, I'll be posting about it, most likely on Twitter.
The mechanical monstrosity that is the Centurion Siege Crawler returns! The last Soviet unit to be revealed was in fact the classic Mental Omega behemoth, which returns in 3.0 with completely new art created by mevitar as a unit unique to the Chinese. You can watch the reveal video right now!
Costing untold amounts of money and with a development period spanning several decades, the Centurion Siege Crawler is without a doubt the ultimate siege engine. The Soviet Units page has been finally updated with the Centurion's profile, including a preview picture the necessary important details. While in previous version the Centurion worked as a one-unit army in many situations, in 3.0 the Centurion has been adjusted to fit the role of a support long-range unit which is a great supplement to the slow but powerful Chinese army.
A few weeks earlier, we also released the Epsilon Units information page which revealed the ones that haven't been showcased in the news before.
Stinger
Invader
Deviator
Piranha Minisub
Resheph
This pretty much means the basic tech trees for all sub-factions are finished. The art and information will be updated with the actual info before the first release, so ignore inconsistencies that are currently present on the pages released so far. I'd guess that Stolen Tech infantry will be next!
In other news: at this stage I come to the conclusion that there is a lot we can do with cooperative missions for 2 or more players. The first release will include 9 of them and the feedback will tell us what to do next. Here's a preview of one of the cooperative missions.
Two new blueprints from Banderi. One of them is a joke. Can you guess which one?
Hello and welcome to 2013. It's time for the first update this year!
So what's been going on with Mental Omega 3.0? We're currently testing its multiplayer stability and the results are mediocre to be honest. There are reconnection errors and blittercrashes , which is why we can't release the mod yet, those issues must be resolved. Also, the AttachEffect, which is an important part of Mental Omega 3.0, has not been merged into the main branch of Ares DLL yet. As you can see, all delays are because of Ares development and multiplayer issues which might or might not be related. The Red Alert 2 modding community does not provide enough feedback for it and with AlexB being the only person who works on the main branch and Graion Dilach working on AttachEffect, it shouldn't be a surprise that Ares is being developed slowly at the moment. We're trying to test it as carefully as possible, we might also require more testers for the closed beta, but basically that's why you have to wait for the first public release. Ares needs more people so if you can help somehow, please do so. Other than that, the mod is pretty much ready for the first public beta in which we'll have everyone test the balance and further stability of the game. Of course, after we get rid of game breaking issues we already know about. We don't want to release a faulty product, even if it's just a public beta.
We have finally released the information on Epsilon Infantry. Now that profiles for all heroes and heroines have been published, you can take a look at the standard 8-directional preview images for them! Who do you think will be your favourite?
This war begins anew. As you may already know, Mental Omega 3.0 will retell the events of Red Alert 2, continuing where Red Alert 1 left off and branch out into an expanded universe with brand new missions for all three factions. It means that the previous policy of "Yuri thought that his Boomers were not good enough in previous war so he replaced them with the Resheph" is no longer valid. Everything that's presented in the mod is a part of our new timeline and the events of Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge are being retconned. The story will go in a different direction than Yuri's Revenge did and lead to a completely new ending with two acts, with Act One having 36 missions (12 per side).
However, since the missions are really challenging and do require a save/load function, the full campaign will not be released until Ares DLL reenables it. The first public beta will contain 6 missions as a demo of what's to come.
We are very happy to announce that the first part of the voice over stage for Mental Omega 3.0 has been completed with success! We managed to collect voice over sets for 62 new units, after receiving samples from many people. We are very thankful for your contribution, we didn't expect such an overwhelming response! In the end, voices of 20 people will be heard in-game, the full list of contributors can still be seen on this page. You made this project more complete, thank you.
This is not the end, as we will want to voice characters for the campaign when the time comes! We hope to hear from you again by then.
Time for more pictures. Now that all infantry pages are released (without the stolen tech info though), I'd like to showcase the magnificent work that our infantry artist ImP_RuLz has done. This picture shows hero units he created, namely Tanya, Norio, Siegfried, Volkov, Yunru, Libra and Rahn. These are the other infantry units he has created. Gyrocopter was based on Cranium's model.

Bu7loos has recently created a new Tesla Coil, EMP Mines and PsiCorps Mind Reader.

Two new blueprints for the installer! This time, the mighty Basilisk and the ever popular Abrams.
A note before we begin. Apparently, because of some changes in the game code, NPatch is not compatible with the Ultimate Collection version of Yuri's Revenge and Origin has issues with launching mods for C&C or something. There are no plans at the moment for an update of 1.2 or 2.0 to make it compatible.
Time for the November media update. The voice over project for Mental Omega 3.0 continues. As I've announced two weeks ago, we are in need of your help to provide new voices for new units. We don't want to reuse voice overs from other C&C games like I did in version 2.0, so I've started this project and I'm inviting you to be a part of it! This thread was created to discuss voice over works for MO3.0 and suggest new lines for units which still don't have the set done.
The most important thing here is the following online sheet which has up-to-date information on which units do not have their original voice done yet. I got plenty of messages saying 'I want to try giving a voice to a unit but I don't know what I should say'. Well, this sheet is the answer. It has lines I confirmed we'd be using for the units. The sheet will be updated continuously.
As for now, we've received plenty of new voiceovers but there's still a lot of units to cover. All remaining "unvoiced" Soviet units are listed with lines written for them. We'll continue to list units which do not have their voice overs yet so check it out from time to time. To avoid confusion, the sheet now has two pages: units without voices and units with recorded voice overs. Check the first set of voice overs we've managed to get:
Time to show you some new and old units by Azri_Apoc. Why new and old? Two of these were shown to the public "indirectly" last year and haven't been officially announced yet, something I completely missed. The more dedictated followers will know which units I mean.
Epsilon MCV
Oxidizer
Marauder
Marauder (Water)
Repair Drone
Apocalypse Tank
Mandjet
The Soviet Units page has been updated with the profile for the Apocalypse Tank. The remaining profile will be revealed when the unit is complete. Next media update I suppose.
In the meantime, Bu7loos is working on some nice updates of old defenses. Here are two of them.
Sentry Gun
Flak Cannon
Another talented 3D artist in the community, Orac, created a new T3 defense for the Epsilon.
Antares Battery
With the reveal of third remade amphibious transport, we can show you what they're doing in their free hours! Allied Voyager, Soviet Zubr and Epsilon Mandjet in one picture!
Lovalmidas, who created a few fan missions for 2.0 has joined the Mentalmeisters and is working on a remake of a mission from 2.0. Can you guess which one?
I mentioned before that RP is working on a modified version of map editor for Mental Omega. He's also working on a map validator which you can use to check your missions for coding errors.
Thanks Luke Latzke for providing us with the original model the Colossus Tank was based on. This mammoth and the Qilin Tank will appear in a Red Alert 2-themed installation along units like the Future Tank and Aeroblaze. The Qilin model was created by SecondWtq while the art, as usual, by Banderi. More to come!
